Bienal de Venecia. 53 Exposición Internacional

Hasta el 23 de noviembre todavía se puede visitar la Bienal de Venecia, en sus dos sedes, Il Giardini y el Arsenal además de los eventos repartidos por toda la ciudad. Dirigida por Daniel Birbaum, este año con el título de "Hacer mundos" cuenta con la participación de 77 países.

El pabellón de Estados Unidos ha obtenido con Nauman el máximo galardón, el León de Oro de la Bienal. También ha sido premiado con un León de Oro el artista alemán Tobias Rehberger por su obra “Was du liebst, bringt dich auch zum Weinen”, exhibida en el pabellón de su país. El León de Plata para una Joven Promesa fue para Nathalie Djurberg, de Suecia.

Uno de los pabellones de más éxito, de los más visitados es el del Reino Unido, que proyecta un video muy celebrado de Steve McQueen. Durante 30 minutos se visitan en el video los Jardines de la Bienal unos meses antes que comenzara, cuando todo estaba sucio y abandonado.

El Pabellón Español cuenta con la obra en solitario de Miquel Barceló. Este pabellón se ha creado bajo la dirección de Enrique Juncosa, actual director del Museo Irlandés de Arte Moderno de Dublín (IMMA), reúne pinturas de gran formato y de reciente creación, junto a otras anteriores que conforman una revisión del trabajo de Barceló desde el año 2000.

La exposición del Pabellón español incluye además una serie de obras del artista y escritor francés François Augiéras (1925 – 1971), cuya obra Barceló quiere descubrir a un público más amplio. El trabajo de Augiéras ha sido publicado principalmente en pequeños y póstumas ediciones recientes, aunque su trabajo fue elogiado en su día por autores como André Guide o Marguerite Yourcenar. Augiéras vivió temporadas en Mali, Argelia y Mauritania.

Los amantes del arte contemporáneo podrán visitar además, entre otras cosas, las dos sedes del Museo de François Pinault, -el Palacio Grassi, remodelado por el japonés Tadao Ando y la sede de la Punta della Dogana. Allí mismo se encuentra el Museo del artista abstracto veneciano, Vedova, recientemente inaugurado, que se alberga en un edificio, el Almacen del Sal, remodelado por el arquitecto Renzo Piano, la fundación Guggenheim, que exhibe la colección de arte moderno de Peggy Guggenheim; y la Galería de la Academia, dedicada al arte clásico, la pintura veneciana, toscana y flamenca.
