El presente curso pretende analizar exhaustivamente la relación hispano-flamenca que está en la base de la Escuela Española. Para ello se ha invitado a participar a los más reputados especialistas internacionales, investigadores (Tzvetan Todorov), conservadores (Alejandro Vergara, Wouter Kloek, Xavier Bray), historiadores (Theodore K. Rabb, Luis Miguel Enciso, Luis Ribot), historiadores del arte (David Freedberg, Joaquín Yarza, Víctor Nieto) y a escritores (Arturo Pérez Reverte),entre otros muchos hasta completar 18 conferencias, que ofrecerán desde una visión multidisciplinar un completo y concienzudo análisis de esta relación, cuyo reflejo es la rica y sobresaliente colección de pintura flamenca que atesora el Museo del Prado.
El acto de inauguración estará presidido por D. Pío Díaz de Tuesta, director de Programa de la Fundación Caja Madrid, D. Carlos Zurita, duque de Soria, presidente de la Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado, D. Gabriele Finaldi, director adjunto del Museo del Prado, y D. Francisco Calvo Serraller, director del curso.
